Casalecchio di Reno is a town of 35.091 inhabitants, situated in the Province of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy. Casalecchio's name is derived from Casaliculum (collection of little houses), and from the presence of the Reno River. The site has archaeological treasures dating from the Paleolithic and Villanovan eras; Etruscan remains have also been found. The Battle of Casalecchio took place here on June 26, 1402. Casalecchio was heavily damaged by Allied bombers during World War II.

The Reno is a river of Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy. It is the tenth longest river in Italy (the sixth longest of those which flow directly into the sea) and the most important of the region apart from the Po. The name of the river has the same etymology as the German Rhein (Rhine River), as both derive from a Celtic word meaning "flowing (of water)".

Do not miss out to visit Tizzano heremitage, it lies on the first hills over Casalecchio and provides a very wide panorama of Bologna town from above. It is the right way to relax both body and mind.
